Dr. Dassenko's office was proud to partner with The Family Care Network in order to sponsor seven foster and high-needs individuals in our community for Christmas. Dr. Dassenko and staff members contributed toys, gift cards, and other specifically requested items to help make their holiday brighter. Through Family Care Network's holiday drive, over 400 children and families on the Central Coast ultimately enjoyed warm holiday celebrations and received meaningful gifts.
The Family Care Network serves foster and high-needs children, youth, and families on the Central Coast. Working with their community partners, they are dedicated to a sole purpose of improving the quality of life of others by surrounding them with compassionate assistance, care and guidance.
We thank our wonderul patients, as they once again exemplify their warm-hearted and giving nature by bringing in non-perishable food items for the office's Salvation Army food drive. For the second year, each patient received a $5 credit to their account towards dental services in return for their generous donation. A full barrel of goods were collected in the weeks before Christmas and were received by the Salvation Army just in time for the holiday!
Britta Swearingen, dental hygienist, is once again busy making beautiful music with her sister Inga Swearingen. Britta is featured on a CD just released this fall by Inga. It is titled "First Rain" and Britta describes the music as "Swedish Farm Jazz". It is available at Boo Boo Records and through Inga's website : www.ingaswearingen.com.
This Fall of 2009, we celebrate the one-year anniversary of office manager Anna Boe and associate Dr. Jay McDermott. They have both added so much to Dr. Dassenko's practice and to the care that we are able to give you, our patients! In addition, we are delighted to have a few of Dr. McDermott's original paintings hanging in the office now. Please come by and check them out. Britta Swearingen, dental hygienist, has had a busy summer singing with her sister Inga Swearingen at a music festival in Boulder, Colorado in July, and doing a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the Dalidet Adobe in San Luis Obispo. She has also been singing with Inga and the Guy Bud Band for the Music in the Plaza series in San Luis Obispo's Mission Plaza.
Janet Johnson, dental assistant, had recent success at the California Midstate Fair when her son Tyler won 4 H Reserve Grand Champion for his steer and "California Midstate Fair San Luis Obispo County Bred and Fed Champion Steer." He also won "Reserve Champion Bred and Fed" with his heifer. Janet won second prize for "Amateur Photography of a Structure" with her photograph of a shed.
Dr. Dassenko had the pleasure of performing with the San Luis Obispo Symphony in their "Tour Down Under" this summer. They played five concerts in Australia as the featured orchestra at a festival in the famous Sydney Opera House. Following that, Dr. Dassenko performed in the orchestra of the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival, which had an exciting array of concerts throughout our county, and has continued to thrill audiences from all over California and beyond. She's excited about the new season with the San Luis Obispo Symphony, which has its Pops by the Sea in September in Avila Beach. This year's pops is titled "A Swingin' Pops" and features jazz singer Inga Swearingen (sister of our hygienist Britta!!)
